Game Drives

Included in your stay, Shindzela offers two game drives per day in open 4 x 4 vehicles– one early-morning and one late-afternoon/early- evening. We seat 8 guests per vehicle of which Shindzela has 2 safari vehicles operating on a private concession of approx 6500ha together with two other commercial lodges.

Your guides will endeavor to track the big mammals in the bush, inform you of the insect and plant life and point out some of the 350 bird species in the area. Also be on the lookout for crocodiles and hippo at dams. If you’re fortunate, you may even see wild dog. In addition to big-five animals, we have an array of nocturnal creatures such as bush babies, civets, genets, African wild cat and porcupines.

Walking Trails

Also included in your stay at no additional cost are our morning walking trails, should you choose to substitute one morning game drive with a morning walking safari instead. Our trails usually lasts for between two and two and a half hours. During summer months the walking safaris may be of shorter duration due to the thicker vegetation and summer heat.

All our walking trails are led by experienced, qualified and armed trails guides. A maximum of 8 guests are allowed on a guided walk. For your safety and enjoyment, should you participate on the game drives or walking trails, please adhere to the safety instructions given by our guides. To book the morning walking trails you can chat to your guide upon arrival at Camp to arrange this, (remember that this is a weather dependant activity)

If you choose to go on our morning walking trail, please note the following qualifying criteria: You need to be able to understand and speak English, be in a good physical condition, need to be between 16yrs and 60yrs, if you are above 60, we require a medical certificate stating that you are able to walk in the African bush within a big 5 dangerous game area and be able to walk for about 2,5-3 hours.

Our guides will do their utmost to offer guests sightings of the larger animals, but our walks are more of an educational experience focusing on our amazing fauna and flora!
