South Africa is a popular destination for a self drive holiday. The road network is good throughout most of the country. Self-drive is often the most cost effective way to travel around South Africa, and affords the traveller flexibility. South Africa does not have an effective public transport system.
Driving times vary from person to person, but as a general guideline:

Johannesburg: 6 – 6.5 hours
Hoedspruit: 1hr 20 minutes
Hoedspruit Airport: 1 hr 15 minutes
Phalaborwa: 2.5 hours
Nelspruit: 3 – 3.5 hrs
Kruger Orpen gate: 2 – 2h15 mins
Kruger Paul Kruger Gate: 3 / 3.5 hours
Swaziland border: 5 / 5.5 hours
Timbavati Gate: 50 minutes
Tzaneen 3h15 mins
Please try and arrive in camp between 13h00 – 14h30. You will need to check in and freshen up before joining us for lunch. Please do not arrive late – you will risk missing your first safari activity.
