Early morning 2 am fun at Shindzela Tented Safari Camp…..

3 February 2011

Mike heard a leopard calling close to camp at a bout 2Am and thought that they had a fairly good chance of finding it so he woke the guests up to go and look. After a bit of luck he found a female on Euphorbia drive (Kruger Park) at about 2.30. She was very relaxed and the guys had a great sighting. Having gone back to camp and back to bed, he heard another at about 3AM this time in the direction of the pump. As most of the guests were still awake out they went again and found a huge male. The male and female were calling to each other and must have met up later in the night.

After our morning drive we were plesently surprised to find the big giants in front of Tent no 5.

Shindzela Safari Camp – Timbavati Reserve

10 February

Small breeding herd of elephant at main dam. Fantastic hyena sighting close to the pump. General game has been pretty slow recently due to the rain and dense vegetation. The buffalo bulls are still in camp most night. After a bit of searching Mike managed to find a young male leopard close to broken dam – it must be the male cub of the Johnniesdale (Timbavati Reserve) female.
