Santa’s Shoe box

The Santa Shoebox Project is an initiative of the Kidz2Kidz Trust (IT2671/2009). The Trust is

registered as a Public Benefit Organization (PBO-930031301), a Non Profit Organisation (NPO

102-098), a Level Four B-BBEE Contributor and has Section 18A status.

The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town and has grown in leaps and bounds, with

the number of Santa Shoeboxes growing from a humble 180 boxes in 2006 to a record 118 274

in 2013. The boxes are distributed to more than 1000 recipient facilities, through more than 60

satellites around South Africa and Namibia. The success of the Project can largely be attributed

to its personal nature – donors give gifts to children whose names, ages and genders are known.

The theme this year is ‘KISS – Keep it Sustainable Santa!’

In line with the above, the Santa Shoebox Project will be introducing some innovative new initiatives that donors and sponsors can get involved with and/or support

Nourish was founded in 2010 by Sarah Bergs, who grew up locally in the world renowned game reserve, the Timbavati. Her heart and soul filled with African sunsets, open landscapes, welcoming warm smiles and children playing in the dirt. Initially only a dream, Nourish has since, with hard work, passion, love, tears and dedication, become a reality.

Through Nourish, Sarah is now able to bring change and upliftment to people and communities. She says, “Nourish has truly given me the chance to educate, to change the way communities see the environment and to touch lives. What could be more rewarding?”

Nourish takes their inspiration from Mother Theresa, who said, “We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”

Travel Trees is one of Nourish’s projects which focuses on offsetting the carbon footprint of tours and travels through our beautiful country by sponsoring a tree. This tree, a naturalised fruit tree is planted on your behalf in the rural villages and communities that Nourish works with. These trees are planted at the homes of orphans and vulnerable children, or at schools, to not only give back to the environment, but also to create a sustainable food source.

For only R 100.00 per couple or family you can make a difference. For donations you can simply pay that small amount into the below bank account details / or to get in touch with Nourish directly you can email them at:

Our purpose flows from our passion for Africa as our home, from our belief that improving our local communities is an investment in our collective future. In all aspects of this work, we strive to create an environment of encouragement, empowerment, compassion, and mutual respect.

Our objective is to find an integrative approach to community empowerment that:

1.educates communities on nutrition, sustainability and the vital role of the environment in their lives
2.builds capacity in environmental entrepreneurship thereby improving livelihood options and access to good nutrition
3.provides assistance in creating platforms through which the public and businesses can actualise transparent and sustainable community upliftment
4.promotes social responsibility amongst the general public

Therefore Shindzela joins nourish in spreading this wonderful educational platform on nutrition and sustainability
