Shindzela is a tented safari camp, situated within the heart of the Timbavati Reserve, which in turn is open to the Kruger National Park and the larger Transfrontier Park. It is an ideal Kruger camp offering game drives in open safari vehicles and kruger walking safaris.
The establishment of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park has linked the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique, Kruger National Park in South Africa, Gonarezhou National Park, Manjinji Pan Sanctuary and Malipati Safari Area in Zimbabwe, as well as two areas between Kruger Safari Park and Gonarezhou, namely the Sengwe communal land in Zimbabwe and the Makuleke region in South Africa. The establishment of this vast wildlife conservation area expands the habitat to enable viable populations of endangered wild dog, cheetah and a range of smaller endangered animals and birds to be grown.
The total surface area of the Transfrontier park is approximately 35,000 km2 (approximately the size of The Netherlands). The establishment of the Transfrontier Park is the first phase of creating a bigger transfrontier conservation area measuring a staggering 100,000 km2. The Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park bring’s together some of the best and most established wildlife areas in southern Africa. The park is managed as an integrated unit across three international boundaries.
Incorporation into the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park expands the scope of the Kruger Safari Park to enable viable populations of endangered wild dog, cheetah and a range of smaller endangered animals and birds to be re-established. The incorporation of an important stretch of the Limpopo River into the park adds a tremendous feature to its already incredible treasure trove.
