Getting to Shindzela Tented Camp, Timbavati Private Game Reserve:
There are various options available for guests to get to Shindzela tented safari camp, for your game viewing safari. Please make sure you arrive in camp by 14h30 / 15h00 at the latest - this ensures that you have time to participate in an afternoon game viewing activity.
Getting to Shindzela Tented Safari Camp
1. There are daily flights from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Eastgate airport, Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) and Phalaborwa. For flights schedules with South African Airways, please see www.flysaa.com.
2. On arrival at either of these airports, you will need to book an airport transfer:
Hoedspruit airport / Shindzela: 1 hr20 minutes
Nelspruit (KMIA) / Shindzela: 3 hrs 15 mins
Phalaborwa / Shindzela: 2hrs15 mins
3. Airport transfer rates: (rates valid until 31st December 2012)
Rates are per person, one way and includes the Timbavati vehicle entry fee, but NOT the per person conservation levy of R150 pp

4. Timbavati Game Reserve entrance fees:
Your airport transfers do include the vehicle entrance fee, but NOT the per person conservation gate fees for entry to the Timbavati Private Game Reserve. Vehicle fees are payable in cash at the entrance of the Reserve, and your Conservation Levy is payable in cash on arrival at the camp. These are once off fees, not per night fees. However, if you go out on a day trip and travel back in to the Reserve, you will need to pay the fees again. Reserve fees are subject to change without notice – R150.00 per person Conservation Fee fee. SELF DRIVE guests will need to add the vehicle entry fee of R120 per vehicle.
5. Self drive: Many guests of Shindzela travel on a self drive basis. The camp can be reached by self drive in a sedan (but sometimes takes some careful driving!) Please request our self drive directions and always check in at our Shindzela office, which is situated about 250 metres before the Timbavati Gate Entrance, on the left hand side. Car hire can easily be booked online with Avis, Budget, Europcar and Tempest. Try and book unlimited mileage if you are self driving around South Africa. You may also with to fly one way, and book a hire car from our local airports – Hoedspruit has Avis and Budget offices. This is ideal if you are leaving us to travel in to Kruger and the Panorama Route.
6. There is an OR Tambo Johannesburg airport / Timbavati daily scheduled road transfer service. This is operated by Ashton’s Tours and is a scheduled transfer, so you will travel with other visitors.
This service departs daily from the Europcar desk, OR Tambo International airport. The meeting time is 06h00 and it leaves promptly at 06h15. Rates include the Timbavati vehicle entry fee, but excludes the per person conservation fee of R150 pp.
Travelling time from Johannesburg is about 6.5 hours. Please note that you must overnight in Johannesburg the night before. The shuttle CAN collect at certian hotels - see a more detailed schedule. On the return transfer, the shuttle should arrive at the O R Tambo airport by 18h30 – please make sure you book late connecting flights
7. All of the transfer services can be booked directly with Shindzela, and we can add the costs to your accommodation invoice, so that you are not making separate payments.
