Outreach Programme – in support of Hlokomela:

safari outreach programme

Shindzela Safari Camp supports local community welfare

Hlokomela Project – Established in 2005, the Hlokomela project coordinates various health and educational development initiatives for 69 local agricultural and tourism businesses.  Hlokomela’s purpose is to improve the health and reduce the vulnerability of migrant and permanent farm workers and their families in the Hoedspruit area to HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis and other chronic health conditions through improved knowledge, awareness, access to services and healthier living conditions.

Hlokomela fresh herb garden – The Hlokomela Herb Garden is a division of the Hlokomela Programme.  The Herb Garden was stated on 1 July, 2008 and start-up funding – was obtained through a Food Security and Sustainability Grant from National Development Agency, (NDA).  As an income generating opportunity, all of the income derived from the business will be used to address sustainability and growth issues. Since August 2011, the Hlokomela Herb Garden became self-sustainable through providing fresh organic herb products to local markets, restaurants and lodges in and around the K2C (Kruger 2 Canyon) Area.

Food bank– The Food bank aims to improve the wellness of Hlokomela clients at the HlokomelaWellness Clinics.  Apart from utilizing their own products, there is great support from the local farming community in donating excess produced fresh fruit and vegetables to the Food bank for distribution to Hlokomela clients and their families.
